Main Street Building

The sale of the Main Street building took place in July 2009. The new owner’s plans for the building are undetermined at this time but he has generously allowed us ample time to vacate by agreeing to allow the Museum to lease back the building for up to two years at no cost. The ability to remain in the building while sorting and inventorying the artifacts and collections is greatly appreciated by the Trustees and volunteers working on the Museum move. Thank you to all those who assisted in negotiating, researching and filing the documents needed to finalize the sale.

New Building Site

Much work has gone on at the new building site. If you have been there lately, you couldn’t miss the 10-foot tall concrete foundation which was poured in May. For several weeks, rain or shine, crews dug trenches, tied tons of rebar, and set up giant forms for the poured concrete.  In order to assure that the new building will be suitable for public occupancy, Sodemann and Associates worked with the contractor to insure the foundation would support the barn and its planned renovation.

The Building and Lands Committee will work closely with the project manager, architect, and engineers over the winter to continue to employ the most cost-effective approaches and methods for building the Museum.
